Stainless steel 316 is the type of austenitic stainless steel that has standard amount of molybdenum in it. In comparison to SS 304 steel, alloy 316 has improved corrosion resistance abilities due to the different concentration of molybdenum. This gives it more power to resist pitting and crevice corrosion under chloride environments. This alloy possesses great forming and welding qualities. This is because of its excellent weldability that post-weld annealing is not required after most welding procedures.
\nStainless steel 316L is a version of SS 316 with lesser amount of carbon in it. The low carbon in it gives it immunity from sensitization which is the grain boundary carbide precipitation.
\nSS 316 Ti is the titanium stabilized grade and similar to SS 316H i.e. it contains high carbon content and is applied at increased temperatures.
